A mezzanine floor that doubles the available space
For Airbus in France, Nolte Mezzanine designed and built a mezzanine floor with one level and a total surface area of 794 m². The structure, composed of a combination of hot-rolled and cold-formed profiles with a column grid of approximately 6,000 x 4,600 mm and an open steel grid floor finish, provides a solid foundation for additional storage capacity. Thanks to the custom-made design, Airbus now uses the available area of 1,300 m² optimally: the floor doubles the usable space to 2,600 m², significantly increasing the storage capacity for aircraft fuselages.
Solution for limited storage space
The existing workspace at Airbus did not provide sufficient space for storing aircraft fuselages. Expanding the building was not an option, so an efficient internal solution was needed. The mezzanine floor from Nolte Mezzanine provided the perfect answer: an extra level was created within the same space, greatly improving logistics and maintenance processes. The floor is designed for long-term, intensive use and integrates seamlessly into the existing structure of the hall.
Technical precision and reliable design
The mezzanine floor has a floor height of +6,770 mm and is stabilized with portals for maximum rigidity. By combining hot-rolled and cold-formed steel profiles, a reliable structure was achieved that meets the strict standards of the aerospace industry. The open grid floor ensures a safe and accessible workspace with optimal ventilation and light penetration.
From design to installation: a complete process
Nolte Mezzanine was responsible for the entire project, from design and production to on-site installation. The project started with a detailed measurement of the space, followed by a technical custom design. The steel structures were then produced in-house and carefully assembled in France. Thanks to precise planning and continuous coordination with Airbus, the entire process was completed smoothly and on schedule.
