A mezzanine floor for storage and office space
For Engels Verf in Amsterdam, Nolte Mezzanine realised a mezzanine floor with one level and a total surface area of 250 m². The floor is designed for both the storage of materials and products and partial office use. By making smart use of the available height in the building, additional functional space was created without expanding the property.
Efficient use of available business space
In the new building, Engels Verf had sufficient floor space, but purchasing additional space in neighbouring buildings was not a viable option. By choosing a mezzanine floor, the existing space could be used to its full potential. The new floor makes it possible to combine storage and office functions, resulting in an efficient layout and improved logistical workflow.
Technical specifications and structural design
The mezzanine floor has one level with a floor height of +3,460 mm. Stability is ensured through a combination of cross bracing and portal frames. The design includes both small spans using cold-formed profiles and larger spans using hot-rolled structures. This combination of structural solutions makes the floor suitable for both storage and office use.
From initial assessment to completion
Nolte Mezzanine managed the entire process from design to completion. In consultation with Engels Verf, the requirements and available space were assessed, after which a custom mezzanine floor was designed. The key project steps were:
- Assessment of the space and functional requirements.
- Design and engineering of the mezzanine floor with portal frames and cross bracing.
- Production of the steel structures.
- Assembly and installation of the floor within the building.
- Final delivery and safety inspection.
This structured approach resulted in a solution that fully meets the intended use of the building.
