Two-level mezzanine creates additional storage capacity for logistics center in Nuremberg
Smartly designed for maximum space
For Kühne und Nagel, Nolte Mezzanine built a two-level mezzanine with a total surface area of 1,800 m². The structure consists of cold- and hot-rolled profiles, supported by a 5,000 x 5,000 mm column grid and finished with chipboard flooring. Thanks to this design, an existing floor space of 800 m² was effectively expanded to 2,400 m² of storage and picking area, without losing flexibility on the ground floor.
Expansion done right
The logistics center of Kühne und Nagel urgently needed more space for storage and manual order picking. At the same time, it was important to keep enough free space under the mezzanine for handling large goods. The challenge was to make the most of the available building height without restricting workflow on the floor.
A tailored design with room for growth
The mezzanine is divided into two levels, at heights of +3,693 mm and +7,386 mm. Bracing was applied for stability. The construction not only provides extra square meters but also creates a clear separation between storage and picking processes. Nolte Mezzanine was responsible for the design, engineering, production and installation. Continuous coordination with the client streamlined the process and ensured delivery on schedule.

What made this project special was the intensive cooperation between both parties. From the first phase onward, close consultation ensured that customer requirements were seamlessly translated into a technical solution. This approach enabled efficient execution with strong involvement from both sides. The result: a functional and future-proof space, fully tailored to the logistics needs of Kühne und Nagel.
