RECA Norm
A mezzanine floor of 240 m² that increases warehouse capacity and creates an efficient, partially automated logistics flow in Kupferzell

The situation before the mezzanine floor
RECA Norm faced a shortage of storage and picking capacity within its existing warehouse. The available space was already being used intensively, which made the logistics flow increasingly inefficient. This not only affected daily operations but also limited further growth. At the same time, expanding the building was not a preferred option, meaning the solution had to be found within the existing space and processes.
A mezzanine floor as a foundation for automation
For RECA Norm (Spängler Lagertechnik), Nolte Mezzanine delivered a mezzanine floor constructed from hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel profiles, finished with a chipboard floor. The structure forms an integral part of the client’s automation project and consists of two levels, making optimal use of the available building height.

Efficient organisation of the logistics process
The mezzanine floor enables storage and order picking to be strategically distributed across multiple levels. The structure is fully aligned with automated systems such as conveyors and order picking solutions, creating a continuous and streamlined material flow. This results in shorter lead times, higher picking efficiency and better utilisation of both space and personnel, without the need to physically expand the building.
Technical specifications and execution
The mezzanine floor consists of two levels with floor heights at +4,150 mm and +8,150 mm. Stability is ensured through cross bracing, allowing the structure to withstand the dynamic loads of the automated system. The floor is specifically designed for use within an automated logistics environment, where the steel structure and installations are closely integrated.

From design to installation in one process
The project began with translating the logistical requirements into a technical design. This was followed by close coordination with the conveyor system supplier, after which the steel structure was engineered, including cantilevers and integration points. Installation on site was carried out in phases to avoid disruption to ongoing operations.
- Customer-focused approach: logistical requirements formed the basis of the design
- Technical alignment: close collaboration with the conveyor specialist
- Engineering: development of the structure, cantilevers and integration points
- Phased installation: minimal impact on ongoing operations
- Result: a floor fully aligned with the logistics process
This approach resulted in a solution that is directly applicable both technically and operationally.
Collaboration as the key to an integrated solution
The collaboration between RECA Norm and Nolte Mezzanine was characterised by intensive technical coordination throughout the entire project. In close cooperation with the conveyor system supplier, positioning, infeed and outfeed points, structural connections and load requirements were combined into one cohesive design. This allowed the steel structure and automation to be realised as a single integrated system.

A future-ready solution for logistics automation
With this mezzanine floor, RECA Norm now benefits from an efficient and scalable warehouse setup. The integration of storage, picking and automation creates a stable and organised logistics flow that supports further growth. The solution not only increases capacity but also provides a solid foundation for future optimisation.
